The valley of Wordlark Hollow at dusk — rolling foothills under a sky tinted lavender and rose, with snow-capped mountains in the distance.

The World

A hollow that forgot to let go of autumn.

The Hollow

Nestled in a remote valley at the heart of Earendale, Wordlark Hollow is home of the Wordlark Hollow Resort and Spa, once one of the celebrated destinations on the Great Head. Travelers came from across the Head to wander its forests, enjoy its hot springs, and listen to the whispers of the wordlarks.

These days things are quieter.

The resort has fallen on hard times. Guests are harder to come by. Buildings need repairs. And the strange incident that nearly destroyed the place ten years ago is still haunting the area.

When Mim Fenndotter arrives to help out her Great Aunt at the resort she expects fresh air and a short stay. Instead she finds herself in the middle of a mystery that she can't quite let go of.

Some secrets refuse to stay hidden.

Especially around wordlarks.

Just language, story, and curiosity working together the way they do in the real world.

Language Immersion

Wordlark Hollow isn't a language course.

It's a place.

You'll practice real language by living in the story.

Chat with characters. Read shop signs and newspapers. Follow clues. Help your friends and neighbors. Piece together conversations from context. Little by little, what once felt unfamiliar begins to feel natural.

No flashcards. No drills. No streaks.

Just language, story, and curiosity working together the way they do in the real world.

The "Team"

Hi, I'm Nikki.

I'm a software engineer, writer, and magic bean buyer.

For years I have bounced between language learning apps, textbooks, flashcards, and good intentions, attempting to progress in my ability to speak Spanish. I memorized. I did the lessons. But continually I read, heard, and learned from my own experience in Chile that the best way to make progress with a language was to immerse yourself in it.

What I wanted was a world. A world to live in and practice the language in. A world that I could visit without getting on a plane. A world with compelling stories and characters. And then it hit me. I had a world. It had been waiting in the wings of my brain for ten years.

For ten years I have had the kernel of a world sitting in my mind. It all started with the vision of a dragon appearing over the city of Denver and falling from the sky on top of it. I tried in so many ways to live in this world -- short stories, novalla, graphic novel. None of them felt quite right. Until one day ... things converged as they some times do in that wonderful and beautiful way.

Today, Wordlark Hollow is being created by my tiny independent studio, FoxLeapMoon. I hope to create the world I have wanted for so long and share it with others.

If you want want to support me on my march to a first release please check out my Ko-fi and become a member of SPOONe — the Society for the Prevention of Obviously Normal Explanations!
